Lukáš Merčák

After graduating from college, I started building a career as a financial auditor. First at one of the world's largest auditing company, and later at an investment group. However, I eventually realized that I was lacking creativity in this field - the ability to find my own solutions and to have my work be visible. So, I started learning how to create web applications in my free time. It may not seem like it, but this is where creativity definitely comes into play.

Originally, I had no plans to change my field, but programming started to interest me so much that I decided it would be great to do it full-time. I really appreciate that NN gave me a chance, even though I didn't have years of experience or a degree in the field on my CV. They listened to my story and let me show them the projects I had created. And I believe it turned out to be a win-win situation in the end. 

After joining NN, I was immediately involved in a new project and became a full member of the team that was designing improvements to the life insurance calculator for our advisors and external brokers. So, the responsibility and trust in me were definitely significant. The beginnings were tough, but I could always ask for help and it was really helpful. I was also able to express my opinion on anything and it was always considered.
A pleasant surprise how big focus is on education and development. I am someone who likes to develop and try new things, so I appreciate the support I receive from NN in this regard.
I know that if I wanted to focus more on a specific area, I could adjust my work accordingly after discussing it. And that's really great for my professional development and satisfaction.
